Omoruyi Impressed by Alabama’s Defense, Poised to Make Immediate Impact

Omoruyi is primarily recognized for his strong defensive presence in the paint, earning a spot on the Big Ten All-Defensive Team in each of the past two seasons. Although Alabama faced some defensive challenges last year, Omoruyi was impressed by the team’s defensive intensity during his visit to Tuscaloosa.

“I know I can contribute with my defense,” Omoruyi said. “When I came here, I saw that everyone hustles back and plays solid defense. [At Rutgers] defense wasn’t as emphasized, but here, I was like, ‘Wow!’ Everyone takes defense seriously, and I love that.”

Last season, Omoruyi averaged 10.4 points and 8.3 rebounds per game, positioning himself as a potential immediate starter at Alabama.
