Breaking: Packers QB Malik Willis Practically Fires Back at Ex-NFL Coach Amid Criticism Over…

Malik Willis has turned heads over the past two games, defying expectations — even those of his former team.

Not even the most optimistic Green Bay Packers fans could have predicted Willis’ impressive performances. In just two games, he has completed 25 of 33 passes for 324 yards and two touchdowns, while also rushing for 114 yards and a score. His efforts have led the Packers to consecutive wins.

What makes Willis’ success even more remarkable is that he only joined the team on August 26. With less than three weeks to learn the playbook and get up to speed with Matt LaFleur’s offense, few expected this level of output.

The Packers’ offense was not projected to thrive without Jordan Love, but Packers fans remained hopeful in LaFleur’s ability to craft a game plan that highlighted Willis’ strengths.

As a former Tennessee Titans quarterback, Willis had his share of doubters, with one former NFL head coach being particularly vocal in his criticism. It’s safe to say, though, that Willis has made him eat his words.

Rex Ryan Misjudged Malik Willis

Understandably, fans were concerned about Green Bay’s ability to stay competitive in the NFC North if Love missed extended time. After dropping their season opener in Brazil, the thought of losing their quarterback for an extended stretch was troubling.

However, former NFL head coach and current analyst Rex Ryan took his criticism a step too far ahead of the Packers’ Week 2 game against the Indianapolis Colts.

“Well, unfortunately, I’ve seen this Malik Willis play in the NFL, and no way in hell am I taking him,” Ryan said on Sunday NFL Countdown. “I’m going with the Colts.”

As it turned out, Ryan’s assessment couldn’t have been more wrong. Willis delivered a standout performance.

While doubting the Packers’ chances without Love was understandable, Ryan’s comments were disrespectful and over the top. That only made it more gratifying when Willis’ stellar play proved him wrong.

Ryan, who posted a 61-66 record as an NFL head coach, clearly misjudged Willis. Meanwhile, LaFleur, with his 58-28 coaching record, believed in him, and that faith has paid off.

The Packers may get Love back for their crucial upcoming game against the undefeated Minnesota Vikings at Lambeau Field. But even if Willis doesn’t see the field again this season, he has already done his part. His two impressive performances helped keep Green Bay’s season on track, making big plays without turning the ball over. The Packers’ 2-1 record wouldn’t be possible without Willis stepping up when it mattered most.
