Tyler Huntley Eager to Play Alongside Jaylen Waddle and Tyreek Hill, Prepares for Backup Role

Tyler Huntley is excited to team up with Jaylen Waddle and Tyreek Hill. And it’s easy to see why. These two dynamic wide receivers will be the best duo he’s ever played alongside in the NFL. Their speed and deep-threat ability will provide him with offensive options he hasn’t had before. However, the challenge for Huntley will be adjusting to their unique speed and developing chemistry from a quarterback’s perspective. There will inevitably be moments when the timing is off, but that’s something that can only be fine-tuned with game-time experience.

Huntley, also known as “Snoop,” will serve as the backup this weekend when the Dolphins face the Seahawks. Whether that continues beyond this game will depend on how current starter Skylar Thompson performs. For now, it’s Thompson’s team to lead—until he proves otherwise.

Tua Tagovailoa will miss the next four games after being placed on Injured Reserve, leaving the Dolphins to sign Huntley off the Ravens’ practice squad. Huntley had joined Baltimore after being released by the Browns following training camp.

Compared to Thompson or Tua, Huntley brings more mobility to the quarterback position. Tim Boyle, who was added after the Dolphins’ final roster cuts, remains on the practice squad as an emergency third quarterback option.

Huntley’s claim to fame includes a Pro Bowl appearance two years ago, though it was more due to other quarterbacks declining to participate rather than his own performance. That was the last season the Pro Bowl had alternates, a system that no longer exists. During that Pro Bowl season, Huntley played in six games, starting in four of them.

For now, Huntley waits as the backup. But if Thompson struggles to find consistency, Dolphins fans won’t hesitate to express their frustration. Huntley will be eager to learn the playbook and get up to speed, especially with the prospect of working with explosive talents like Waddle and Hill.
