Aidan Hutchinson’s Sack Chase
Detroit’s defensive end Aidan Hutchinson had a standout performance last week against Tampa Bay, racking up three sacks in the first quarter alone, finishing the game with 4.5 sacks. He now has 5.5 sacks on the season. Hutchinson is eyeing the NFL’s single-season sack record of 22.5, set by Michael Strahan in 2001 and later matched by T.J. Watt.
“One of my goals has always been to break that record,” Hutchinson said. “If the opportunity comes this year, that’d be great. I believe it’s realistic.”
Cardinals’ Efficiency on Third Down
Arizona’s offense has been highly effective on third down, converting 14 of 24 opportunities (58%) — the best rate in the NFL. Against the Rams, they were even more efficient, converting 7 of 11.
“It comes down to preparation and execution,” Murray said. “We’re well-coached, and knowing what defenses might throw at us helps. Sometimes I use my legs to create plays, and keeping drives alive is demoralizing for defenses.”
Lions’ Red Zone Struggles
Despite gaining 463 yards of offense against Tampa Bay, compared to the Buccaneers’ 216, the Lions struggled to capitalize when it mattered most. Goff threw for 307 yards, while Jahmyr Gibbs added 84 rushing yards, but Detroit finished just 1 of 7 in red-zone opportunities.
“We were efficient moving the ball between the 20s,” Campbell said. “But we have to execute better in the red zone.”
Veteran Stability
Cardinals right tackle Kelvin Beachum made his 150th career start in the victory over the Rams, filling in for the injured Jonah Williams. The 35-year-old veteran, in his fifth season with the Cardinals, has also played for the Jets, Jaguars, and Steelers over a career that started in 2012.
