Abi Ortiz Named Texas League Player of the Week After Dominant Performance

Frisco Roughriders first baseman Abi Ortiz has been named the Texas League Player of the Week for the period from September 9 to September 15, as announced yesterday. Ortiz posted an impressive .524/.600/1.143 slash line, hitting four home runs in just 25 plate appearances over five games.

Ortiz, 22, was signed by the Texas Rangers as an undrafted free agent in 2021 from Florida Southwestern State College. After a challenging 2022 season at Down East, he bounced back in 2023, hitting .294/.371/.619 across stints with low-A Down
