Caitlin Clark, the basketball sensation, responded to questions about her recent social media activity after she “liked” a post by Taylor Swift that endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris. When asked if her action implied an endorsement for Harris, Clark shifted the conversation, urging people to register to vote.
Clark, who has millions of followers on Instagram, liked Swift’s post in which the pop star threw her support behind Harris after a presidential debate. In the post, Swift wrote that she was voting for Kamala Harris because the vice president champions issues she deeply cares about.
The “like” from Clark did not go unnoticed, sparking conversation among fans. However, rather than explicitly backing Harris, Clark used the attention to emphasize the importance of voting. “I think the biggest thing would be to encourage people to register to vote,” Clark told reporters when asked if her like was an endorsement. “This is only the second election I can vote in at age 22… That’s the biggest thing I can do with the platform that I have.”
Clark encouraged everyone to stay informed about candidates and their policies, highlighting the need for voters to educate themselves before making decisions. “I recommend that everyone take the opportunity to vote in our country,” she added.
