Tragic News: Philadelphia Phillies Lost The 27-Year Old Star ‘Alec Bohm In..

The Philadelphia Phillies faced a challenging series this week, including a tough loss to the Houston Astros on Wednesday that saw Taijuan Walker moved to the bullpen. However, the team rebounded with a 5-4 victory against the Atlanta Braves on Thursday. Unfortunately, the win came at a cost as they lost their starting third baseman, Alec Bohm, to injury.

The 27-year-old All-Star injured his hand during an awkward swing in the first inning and had to leave the game immediately afterward. Phillies manager Rob Thomson reported that Bohm was experiencing soreness from what he described as “kind of a zinger,” according to The Athletic’s Matt Gelb on X. Thankfully, X-rays on Bohm’s hand were negative.

Bohm left the game and headed to the clubhouse in visible pain, as noted by NBC Philly’s John Clark. Edmundo Sosa stepped in to play third base for the remainder of the game.

Bohm, who made his first All-Star appearance this season, has been a key player for the Phillies. He currently leads the majors with 44 doubles and has contributed 13 home runs and 89 RBIs, boasting a .806 OPS and an OPS+ of 124. In his fifth year in the majors, Bohm has accumulated 3.4 bWAR over 130 games for Philadelphia.

Despite Bohm’s early exit, the Phillies secured the opening game of their four-game series against the Braves. Nick Castellanos delivered a clutch two-run home run in the seventh inning, bringing his season total to 19 homers. Castellanos, a two-time All-Star, also homered in the Phillies’ 5-0 win over the Astros on Tuesday. After the game, Castellanos shared insight into his hitting approach, stating that he simply tries to “hit the ball as hard as he can.”
