Breaking News: Eagles Soar High As They Acquire The Commitment Of New Magnificent Eagle From…

The Philadelphia Eagles have bolstered their defense by claiming former Alabama defensive lineman Byron Young off waivers. Young, who was released by the Las Vegas Raiders on Wednesday, will now reunite with four of his former Alabama teammates: guard Landon Dickerson, cornerback Eli Ricks, wide receiver DeVonta Smith, and offensive tackle Tyler Steen.

On Thursday, Young officially joined the Eagles’ roster, bringing his talents to a team already rich with Crimson Tide alumni. In order to make room for Young on their 53-man roster, the Eagles waived defensive tackle Marlon Tuipulotu, who had been backing up Jordan Davis on the team’s depth chart.

Young’s departure from the Raiders came after the team made several waiver claims of their own, including defensive back Thomas Harper and defensive tackle Jonah Laulu. Young, a third-round pick by the Raiders in 2023, had a limited role during his rookie season, appearing in six games and recording four tackles. However, he showed promise during the preseason, contributing three tackles, one sack, and a pass breakup over 83 defensive snaps.

Though Young didn’t overlap with Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts during his time at Alabama, his familiarity with other key players on the roster should help him transition smoothly into his new role in Philadelphia.
