Vikings Major Setback; Kevin O’Connell Announce The Departure Of A 26-Year Old Fan Favorite; Fans Express Total Discontent Due To…

The Minnesota Vikings have parted ways with Chuck Filiaga just days after bringing the former Michigan offensive lineman on board. Filiaga, who signed with the team last Thursday, was released on Monday. The Texas native joined Michigan in 2017, playing five seasons and appearing in 39 games with 10 starts. After transferring to Minnesota for the 2022 season, he utilized an extra year of eligibility due to the COVID-19 pandemic, starting all 13 games at right guard.

Filiaga, standing at 6-foot-6 and weighing 320 pounds, went undrafted but has since spent time in training camps with the New Orleans Saints and Green Bay Packers, though he has yet to make his NFL debut. Earlier this year, he played in the UFL for the San Antonio Brahmas, starting seven out of 10 games under head coach Wade Phillips, whose son Wes is the Vikings’ offensive coordinator. Filiaga was part of Michigan’s Big Ten championship team in 2021, contributing to an award-winning offensive line that earned the Joe Moore Award for the nation’s best unit. He also played special teams during his college career.

This release comes as NFL teams finalize their rosters, with all 32 teams required to reduce their active rosters to 53 players by Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET.
