As the first week of college football approaches, the Tennessee Volunteers are preparing to kick off their season against Chattanooga at Neyland Stadium. This home game will allow Volunteer fans to enjoy some of the most cherished traditions in college football, including what Herbstreit believes is the top entrance in the country.
When asked which team has the best entrance in college football, Herbstreit, a member of College Gameday, quickly named the Tennessee Volunteers. He praised their tradition of running through the power T on game days, noting his admiration for the spectacle.
“The best entrance. I got to witness this a couple of years ago and was reminded of how special it is,” Herbstreit said. “Now that Tennessee is back to playing great football, there’s nothing better than Neyland Stadium, especially at night. When they go through that power T, with the band and the team coming out, it’s an incredible atmosphere and a perfect way to get pumped for the game.”
In other news, Tennessee recently revealed their uniform combination for the week one matchup against Chattanooga, featuring the fan-favorite smokey grey uniforms.
Additionally, Tennessee announced the game designations for several special events throughout the season, including the much-anticipated checkerboard game. This tradition allows Volunteer fans to color coordinate and create a checkerboard pattern in the stands. The event is scheduled as follows:

– Oct. 12 vs. Florida – CheckerNeyland presented by Pilot
– Nov. 2 vs. Kentucky – Champions Weekend presented by Pilot, 2024 Tennessee Athletics Hall of Fame Recognition
– Nov. 9 vs. Mississippi State – Homecoming
– Nov. 23 vs. UTEP – Salute To Service, Senior Day
The Volunteers also face some significant road games this season, including trips to Oklahoma and Georgia. The visit to Norman will mark head coach Josh Heupel’s return to his former team, the Sooners. Additionally, Tennessee will host Alabama in what is expected to be one of the most important games of the season.
