Breaking News: Bruins Makes An Outstanding Record Breaking History…

When Elias Lindholm dons the Spoked-B jersey this season, he’ll be joining an elite group.

For only the tenth time in the Boston Bruins’ history, the team will feature two players with the same last name. Lindholm, a smooth-skating center and a major offseason acquisition, will join veteran defenseman Hampus Lindholm, forming part of this exclusive club.

The NHL has required players to wear their last names on jerseys since the 1977-78 season. Elias and Hampus Lindholm will become the newest members of the 19 Bruins who have shared a surname, each contributing their own unique chapter to the team’s history.

Keith Crowder & Bruce Crowder
The Crowder brothers entertained Bruins fans for three seasons with their bold, aggressive style. Both wore their first initials on their jerseys after Bruce joined his older brother in 1981-82. Keith Crowder was a quintessential 1980s Bruin, known for his aggressive play, including a legendary brawl with the Minnesota North Stars in 1981, and his scoring ability, breaking the 30-goal mark three times. Bruce, while not as rambunctious, also played a gritty game and had a memorable 21-goal season in 1982-83.

Bob Sweeney & Don Sweeney
Bob Sweeney, a former Boston College star, added a “B” to his jersey when Don Sweeney joined the team in 1988-89. Despite playing together for a few years, Bob was claimed by the Buffalo Sabres in 1992. Don remained with the Bruins, playing over 1,000 games for the team, and later became the last player to have his first initial on a Bruins uniform.

Tim Taylor & Chris Taylor
Tim Taylor, a checking line center, briefly played alongside his younger brother Chris during the 1998-99 season. However, injuries limited their time together, with Chris spending most of his time in the AHL.

Brad Stuart & Mark Stuart
Brad Stuart, a key player acquired in the Joe Thornton trade, saw his role change with the arrival of Zdeno Chara. Mark Stuart joined the Bruins during the 2006-07 season and later became part of a pivotal trade that contributed to the team’s 2011 Stanley Cup run.

Chad Johnson & Nick Johnson
Goaltender Chad Johnson had an impressive 2013-14 season as Tuukka Rask’s backup, while winger Nick Johnson briefly played alongside him in December 2013.

Kevan Miller & Colin Miller
Kevan Miller, a rugged defenseman, became a fan favorite during his seven-year tenure with the Bruins. Colin Miller, a promising blueliner, was later selected by the Vegas Golden Knights in the expansion draft.

Riley Nash & Rick Nash
Riley Nash had a career-best season in 2017-18, while Rick Nash, a former All-Star, joined the Bruins as a late-season acquisition before retiring.

Brett Ritchie & Nick Ritchie
Brett and Nick Ritchie became the third set of brothers to play for the Bruins, although they never had the chance to play together during the 2019-20 season.
