Just In: Mavericks Forward Star Acquires A National Treasure In Stunning Pull…

Grant Williams, a former teammate of Luka Doncic, chose the perfect time to begin his basketball card collection. On Friday, Williams made headlines in the sports card community by pulling one of the most valuable Luka Doncic rookie cards available.

Williams, who previously played for the Dallas Mavericks, purchased a 2018-19 Panini National Treasures box for $10,500. This set is considered one of the most valuable in the modern card market, with Doncic being the most sought-after player from that collection. His rookie patch autographs (RPA) from the set often fetch six-figure prices.

While attending a convention, Williams shared the story of how he pulled a rare Doncic RPA numbered to 10, a card valued at a minimum of $100,000. However, Williams revealed that he’s received offers far exceeding that amount.

“Someone already offered me $300,000 before I even got it graded,” Williams said. “Another person offered $250,000, and another offered $500,000.”

Despite these tempting offers, Williams is holding off, as he wants to give Doncic the “right of first refusal.” He believes that Doncic might be willing to pay as much as a million dollars for the card.

Typically, those who purchase a 10-card box of National Treasures consider themselves fortunate just to break even. However, on Friday, Williams seemed to have all the luck on his side.

It’s quite ironic that Williams, of all people, ended up pulling this card, especially considering he was reportedly traded to the Charlotte Hornets last season after the Mavericks grew “fed up” with his constant chatter.
