Barrie, Ontario – In a significant OHL trade involving multiple teams, the Barrie Colts have acquired promising defenseman Tristan Bertucci, a Dallas Stars prospect. The deal, announced on Monday, saw six players and eleven draft picks change hands between the Colts, Niagara IceDogs, and Flint Firebirds.

Bertucci, a 2023 second-round pick of the Dallas Stars, brings a wealth of experience to the Colts. The Vaughan, Ontario native spent the past three seasons with the Flint Firebirds, where he amassed 107 points (22 goals, 85 assists) in 186 games. Known for his offensive abilities and strong defensive play, Bertucci is expected to be a key contributor to the Colts’ blue line.

To acquire Bertucci, the Colts sent Jack Brauti, Blair Scott, and multiple draft picks to the Niagara IceDogs. The IceDogs had previously obtained Bertucci from the Flint Firebirds in exchange for a package including forward Arterm Frolov and defenseman Urban Podrekar.

With the addition of Bertucci, the Colts now boast a strong core of NHL prospects, including Beau Akey (Edmonton Oilers), Cole Beaudoin (Utah), and Riley Patterson (Vancouver Canucks).

The trade marks a significant boost for the Barrie Colts as they prepare for the upcoming OHL season.
