Atlanta Braves Manager Brian Snitker Confirm The Execution Of A $4.7-Million Deal For The Acquisition Of A 32-Year Old Magnificent Player As A …

Atlanta, GA – The Atlanta Braves made a swift move to bolster their infield on Tuesday, signing veteran Gio Urshela to a minor league contract. The decision comes on the heels of a significant blow to the team as star third baseman Austin Riley was placed on the 10-day injured list due to a fractured right hand.

Riley, a two-time All-Star, is expected to miss six to eight weeks, a substantial loss for the Braves as they battle for a playoff spot. The 27-year-old slugger has been a cornerstone of the Atlanta lineup, with 19 home runs and 56 RBIs this season.

Urshela, a 32-year-old infielder recently released by the Detroit Tigers, brings a wealth of experience to the Braves. Known for his versatility, he has played for several teams throughout his career, including the Cleveland Guardians, Toronto Blue Jays, New York Yankees, Minnesota Twins, and Los Angeles Angels.

To make room for Urshela on the 40-man roster, the Braves transferred pitcher A.J. Minter to the 60-day injured list.

Atlanta currently sits in second place in the National League East, seven games behind the Philadelphia Phillies. They will host their division rivals on Tuesday evening.
