Milwaukee, WI – Bill Zito, the Florida Panthers’ General Manager and President of Hockey Operations, brought the Stanley Cup to his hometown on Wednesday, surprising the Milwaukee Brewers with a visit to their clubhouse.
Before becoming a hockey executive, Zito spent his teenage years working as a clubhouse attendant for the Brewers during their 1982 pennant-winning season. Returning the Stanley Cup to the city where he grew up was a way to express gratitude for his time with the team.
“In the hockey world, bringing the Cup to a place like this is a token of appreciation,” said Zito. “I wanted to share this special moment with the Brewers organization.”
The Brewers were thrilled to welcome Zito back and get an up-close look at the coveted trophy. Team members, including outfielder Sal Frelick – a former hockey player himself – were in awe of the Stanley Cup.
Zito posed for photos with the Cup alongside Brewers broadcaster Bob Uecker and clubhouse manager Tony Migliaccio, a former colleague. The unexpected visit created a memorable experience for the entire team.
As Zito’s hockey career soared, culminating in a Stanley Cup championship, his roots in Milwaukee remained strong. Bringing the Cup back to his hometown was a full-circle moment, bridging his past and present successes.
