Florida State Update: Florida’s fresh Talent Becomes Leagues Top Star…

Florida State’s latest group of talented players is set to make a significant impact in the NFL in 2024, with names like Jared Verse, Trey Benson, and Keon Coleman poised to become the league’s next breakout stars.

Meanwhile, a couple of former Seminoles from nearly a decade ago continue to build their professional careers. Recently, the Houston Texans signed veteran NFL offensive lineman Cameron Erving, a former Florida State standout, to strengthen their offensive line.

Erving, who is entering his tenth NFL season, was a first-round pick by the Cleveland Browns in the 2015 NFL Draft. Over the years, he has played for five other teams: the Browns, Kansas City Chiefs, Dallas Cowboys, Carolina Panthers, and New Orleans Saints. The Texans are now his sixth NFL team.

In his preseason debut with the Texans, Erving played 18 snaps during a 20-12 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers, earning a 56.2 overall grade from PFF. Currently, he is listed as the third-string right tackle on Houston’s depth chart.

Erving was part of the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl LIV-winning team and has played in 98 NFL games, with 58 starts. During his college career at Florida State, he transitioned from defensive tackle to offensive lineman, becoming a key player at left tackle and even starting games at center in 2014. He earned back-to-back first-team All-ACC honors and was a crucial part of the Seminoles’ 2013 national championship team, twice winning the Jacobs Blocking Trophy as the ACC’s best blocker.
