News Update: Peter DeBoer Seal A Major Deal Of $32m For The Acquisition Of 33 Year Old Dynamic Weapon From…

Dallas, TX – The Dallas Stars have bolstered their goaltending depth by signing veteran netminder Magnus Hellberg to a one-year, two-way contract. The 33-year-old Swede brings a wealth of experience to the organization.

Standing at an imposing 6’6”, Hellberg was originally selected by the Nashville Predators in the second round of the 2011 NHL Draft. His career has seen him journey through six NHL teams, five AHL clubs, and international leagues in Russia and China.

Known for his size and solid play, Hellberg has showcased his talents in various leagues. After initial stints with the Predators and Rangers, he spent five seasons in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) where he excelled, posting impressive numbers.

His NHL career has been marked by stints with multiple teams, including the Red Wings, Kraken, Senators, Penguins, and Panthers. While he has faced challenges securing a consistent NHL role, Hellberg has shown flashes of brilliance and proven himself as a reliable backup option.

With Jake Oettinger entrenched as the Stars’ starter and Casey DeSmith acquired as the primary backup, Hellberg is expected to compete for the third goaltending spot. It’s likely he will spend the majority of the season with the Texas Stars, Dallas’ AHL affiliate.

Financial terms of the contract were not disclosed.
