Cleveland, OH – The Cleveland Cavaliers were on the brink of acquiring veteran forward Dorian Finney-Smith from the Brooklyn Nets in a sign-and-trade deal involving restricted free agent Isaac Okoro. However, the deal fell through as negotiations between Okoro and the Nets failed to materialize.

According to NBA reporter Evan Dammarell of ClutchPoints, the Cavaliers had lined up Finney-Smith as a potential addition to their roster if Okoro had agreed to a deal with Brooklyn. Unfortunately for Cleveland, the tight financial situations of both teams hindered progress, ultimately killing the potential trade.

Finney-Smith, known for his defensive prowess and three-point shooting, would have been a valuable asset for the Cavaliers. The 27-year-old averaged 8.5 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.6 assists for the Nets last season.

With the free agency period winding down and training camp approaching, Okoro is expected to accept his $11.8 million qualifying offer from Cleveland. This decision will keep him with the Cavaliers for another season before he becomes an unrestricted free agent next summer.
