Breaking News: Jonathan Gannon Still Optimistic Despite A Terrible …

The Arizona Cardinals enter 2024 with a mix of internal optimism and external doubt. While Head Coach Jonathan Gannon remains positive, national media isn’t sold.

NFL.com placed the Cardinals at a lowly 27th in their preseason power rankings. Analyst Eric Edholm acknowledges the team’s late-season improvement and offensive potential with Kyler Murray and rookie WR Marvin Harrison Jr. However, Edholm highlights the defense as the biggest weakness, stating, “His biggest mission this season has to be making the defense semi-competent.”

Despite a rough start in the preseason opener against the Saints, Coach Gannon remains upbeat. “I thought we battled,” he said. “We got to learn. So obviously, we’re not enthused about a loss, but we did some good things.”

Coming off a disappointing 4-13 season, the Cardinals desperately need defensive improvement. The talent on that side of the ball has been bolstered, and Gannon, a defensive specialist, will be under pressure to deliver results. The challenging NFC West adds another layer of difficulty.

The Cardinals look to bounce back this week as they travel to face the Indianapolis Colts.
