The drama surrounding wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk continues to unfold, with the San Francisco 49ers star seemingly prioritizing his next contract over his team’s success. The New England Patriots were reportedly in the mix for Aiyuk, offering him a lucrative deal, but the wideout reportedly declined the offer.
According to reports, the Patriots and 49ers had even discussed a trade involving Kendrick Bourne as part of the package for Aiyuk. However, negotiations stalled, and the Patriots ultimately backed out.
NESN’s Travis Thomas expressed strong opinions on Aiyuk’s behavior, calling him a “bad guy” for his handling of the situation. While co-hosts George Balekji and Sean McGuire were more understanding of Aiyuk’s desire for a big contract, they agreed that his reported preference for the Pittsburgh Steelers over the Patriots was perplexing given the Steelers’ current state.
