Knoxville, TN – The Tennessee Volunteers are facing an unexpected challenge as they prepare for the upcoming season. With star defensive back Jourdan Thomas sidelined due to a season-ending injury, the pressure is on to find a suitable replacement. Enter Boo Carter, a highly-touted freshman who’s quickly making a name for himself.
Hailing from Cleveland, Tennessee, Carter was a top-200 recruit and a crucial addition to the Vols’ 2024 class. While fellow freshman Jordan Ross generated significant buzz, Carter’s impact could be even more immediate.
Head coach Josh Heupel has been impressed with Carter’s performance in practice, particularly after the team’s first scrimmage. “Boo has played really well,” Heupel stated. “He’s a dynamic playmaker who’s shown great potential.”
Carter is currently in a competitive battle for the starting nickelback position with Christian Harrison. With the season opener against UT-Chattanooga looming, all eyes will be on the young defensive back to see if he can step up and fill the void left by Thomas.
