Despite Hill’s stellar performance, the New England Patriots, who finished a disappointing 4-13 last season, did not have any players featured in the Top 100. Nevertheless, Patriots fans can find some solace knowing that the top-ranked player on this list was effectively contained by one of their own.
In a notable Week 2 matchup between the Patriots and the Dolphins, rookie cornerback Christian Gonzalez, who was making only his second NFL appearance, was tasked with covering Hill. Gonzalez rose to the challenge, preventing Hill from catching any of the two passes thrown his way and even secured an interception. This impressive debut showcased Gonzalez’s potential as a formidable defensive player.
Unfortunately, Gonzalez’s rookie season was cut short due to a shoulder injury sustained just two weeks after this game, which kept him from participating in the rematch later in the year. As a result, Hill and Gonzalez did not have another opportunity to face each other in 2023.
