Tyler Steen, a contender for the starting right guard position with the Philadelphia Eagles, is currently dealing with a mild ankle injury sustained during the team’s training camp practice on Saturday. According to a report by Jeff McLane from the Inquirer, Steen’s injury might keep him sidelined for several practices.

Fortunately for Steen, the injury does not appear to be severe, and there is hope he could return soon. The Eagles have scheduled practices for Monday and Tuesday, followed by a walkthrough on Wednesday. If Steen is unable to return by then, he might be back in time for the public practice session on Thursday evening or the following practice on Sunday.

However, Steen’s situation is complicated by the fact that he is not yet guaranteed the starting right guard spot. Any practice time he misses could give his competitors additional chances to vie for the role. This situation could affect the dynamics of the right guard competition.

During Saturday’s practice, Darian Kinnard was promoted to the first-team unit in Steen’s absence. This shift occurred while Mekhi Becton was also seen getting some reps at right tackle, presumably because Lane Johnson was resting. Becton might be the one to fill in at right guard for the upcoming Monday morning practice, given the current adjustments.

The impact of Steen’s absence on the overall competition remains to be seen. It is possible that after a brief period away from practice, Steen could return and continue to compete for the starting position. Until then, the Eagles’ handling of the right guard spot and how the competition unfolds will be important to watch.
