Just In: Why One of Warriors Best Backcourt Duos Expresses Profound Excitement For The Opportunity To Now Be Mavericks Player…

Klay Thompson, after spending his entire career with Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors, is gearing up for a new chapter with the Dallas Mavericks in the 2024 NBA offseason. Curry admitted that not having Thompson as a teammate feels “weird.”

“It’s still weird, man,” Curry said to Marc J. Spears of Andscape. “I haven’t fully processed the emotions yet. It won’t really hit until October when we’re in the Chase Center’s familiar sights and sounds. All things have to come to an end at some point. I wish it could’ve turned out differently. I wish we could have finished our careers together as Warriors.”

Thompson and Curry formed one of the NBA’s best backcourt duos, both being lethal from beyond the arc and challenging defenses to guard the perimeter. Curry acknowledges Thompson’s need to make the best decision for himself.

“[Thompson] made a decision that he felt was best for himself,” Curry added. “What we achieved together for so long is special and speaks to how hard it is to maintain that. I’m going to celebrate all we accomplished and the experiences we had instead of feeling any resentment. It’s still weird, though.”

Thompson joined the Mavericks via a sign-and-trade with the Warriors. All eyes will be on him when the Mavericks face the Warriors in the 2024-25 season. Thompson is excited for the new opportunity, grateful for his achievements in Golden State, but aiming to win his fifth championship in Dallas.
