REPORT: Finebaum Expects Future Dominance From These Team Despite 2024 Challenges…

Paul Finebaum Reveals Which Major CFB Program Isn’t Ready To Compete in 2024

Several college football teams are entering new conferences. The USC Trojans, Washington Huskies, and Oregon Ducks are joining the Big Ten, while the Colorado Buffaloes, Arizona Wildcats, Arizona State Sun Devils, and Utah Utes will be part of the Big 12. Meanwhile, the Oklahoma Sooners and Texas Longhorns are transitioning from the Big 12 to the SEC. As the 2024 season approaches, Texas has garnered significant attention following its recent College Football Playoff appearance, while Oklahoma has received slightly less recognition.

On The Matt Barrie Show, Paul Finebaum shared his thoughts on Oklahoma’s readiness for the SEC in 2024. He believes the Sooners won’t be a major threat next year but will become a formidable force in the future.

“No,” Finebaum said. “I don’t think they are going to be this year. But, they are certainly going to be in the future.”

Finebaum cited Oklahoma’s history and current leadership as factors that could propel them to dominance. He highlighted the program’s decision to extend head coach Brent Venables’ contract despite the lack of a conference title or bowl game win, showing the program’s confidence in its direction.

Finebaum praised Venables’ influence, noting the significant impact of his departure on Clemson before the 2022 season. He called Venables one of the most impactful coordinators he’s seen in a long time.

Finebaum expects Oklahoma to achieve considerable success in the near future.
