GOOD NEWS:Bruins Confirms the Signing of  Another Sensational Playmaker to Boost Jim Montgomery Roster…

An Original Six team has secured some organizational depth at center.

On Tuesday, Boston Bruins general manager Don Sweeney announced the signing of forward Marc McLaughlin to a one-year, two-way contract. The deal has an AAV of $775,000 through the 2024-25 season.

McLaughlin completed a similar one-year contract for the 2023-24 season, also with a $775,000 cap hit. The North Billerica, Massachusetts native played only one game for the Bruins this season, scoring his first NHL goal against the New York Islanders on March 2.

This pattern has been typical of McLaughlin’s professional career. The undrafted forward joined Boston after completing four years at Boston College. He played 11 games at the end of the 2021-22 season before joining the Providence Bruins, Boston’s AHL affiliate, for the Calder Cup Playoffs that year.

However, McLaughlin hasn’t had many opportunities with the main team. He played just two games with Boston during the 2022-23 season. Overall, the former Cedar Rapids Roughrider has appeared in only 14 NHL games, scoring one goal.

In the AHL, McLaughlin has proven to be a reliable secondary scorer, tallying 13 goals and 17 assists for a career-high 30 points two seasons ago. In 135 AHL games, he has recorded 21 goals and 23 assists, with one goal in eight playoff games.

Before turning pro, McLaughlin had a successful collegiate career at Boston College, serving as captain in his junior and senior years. He was named Hockey East’s best defensive forward twice and was selected for the conference’s Third All-Star Team after the 2020-21 season.

McLaughlin also represented Team USA at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, playing in two games without scoring any points.
