Celtics’ Kristaps Porzingis Out 5-6 Months After Surgery

Boston Celtics center Kristaps Porzingis is expected to be sidelined for five to six months following surgery on his lower right leg, the team announced on Thursday. This timeline suggests a return between late November and December at the earliest.

The 28-year-old suffered a torn retinaculum and dislocated posterior tibialis tendon during Game 2 of the NBA Finals.

Despite missing two subsequent games, Porzingis contributed five points and one rebound in 16 minutes during the Celtics’ 106-88 victory over the Dallas Mavericks on June 17, which clinched the championship.

Previously, he had missed 10 games due to a calf strain but returned to play in the first two Finals games. In his debut season with the Celtics after being traded from the Washington Wizards, Porzingis averaged 20.1 points, 7.2 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.9 blocks over 57 regular-season games, all of which he started.
