Caitlin Clark Dominates Atlanta Dream Before a Sold-Out Crowd
Caitlin Clark is rapidly becoming a standout figure in the WNBA. On Friday night, her Indiana Fever triumphed over the Atlanta Dream 91-79 at a sold-out State Farm Arena, typically home to the Atlanta Hawks, with over 17,500 seats filled. Clark dazzled the crowd, recording 16 points and seven assists.
Clark’s seven assists marked another milestone in her burgeoning career, making her the third-fastest player since Sue Bird to reach 100 assists. She also holds the record as the fastest player in WNBA history to achieve 250 points and 100 assists.

Despite some early struggles in her rookie season, Clark’s game is proving her critics wrong, all while drawing record-breaking crowds. The initial learning curve and the attention from WNBA drama, including hard fouls, Olympic snubs, and envious opponents, have only fueled her determination.
While there are many online critics, the sold-out arenas are undeniable. Other impressive rookies, such as Angel Reese, deserve credit for the season’s success, but none have generated buzz like Clark.

The WNBA is experiencing something unprecedented. The Dream had to move this game to an NBA venue to meet demand, setting a franchise attendance record unrelated to the home team.
Clark’s impact is also felt economically in the cities she plays, with increased attendance benefiting local businesses. After just 17 WNBA games, Clark ranks second in All-Star fan voting, behind Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson, with over 216,000 votes, surpassing established stars like Brianna Stewart and Sabrina Ionescu.
Although the Fever are 7-10, three games shy of a .500 record, Clark’s performance indicates she is hitting her stride. With continued effort, she seems poised to lead her team to greater success.
