Miami Heat’s Nikola Jovic Discusses Jimmy Butler Rumors and Provides Injury Update

Miami Heat forward Nikola Jovic is aiming to represent Serbia in the 2024 Paris Olympics, though his participation is uncertain due to a post-season injury. On Monday, Jovic provided an update on his condition.

“I’m doing great,” Jovic shared with the media. “The injury is improving, and the swelling is nearly gone. We’ll wait a few more days for a control scan, and then we’ll see how things are.”

Despite his injury, Jovic remains competitive, especially towards his American teammate Bam Adebayo. Serbia is set to face the United States on July 17 in Abu Dhabi, with Adebayo playing on a star-studded Team USA roster featuring LeBron James, Stephen Curry, and Joel Embiid.

“I won’t respect the Americans, and I don’t think we should respect anyone,” Jovic stated. “They’re all great players, but we’re going to win all the games.”

While Jovic isn’t directly competing against teammate Jimmy Butler, he is aware of the veteran star’s uncertain future with the Heat. Butler has been a prominent name in trade rumors this offseason, with the Philadelphia 76ers and Houston Rockets among the potential destinations.

“I would like him to stay, just as I would like to stay,” Jovic said. “You never know, it’s a big business. I’m sure the people in Miami respect him and want him to stay, but the decision is between them.”
