SAD NEWS: Caitlin Clark Sets Assist Record but Passes Up Final Shot in Loss to Reese…

Angel Reese Outshines Caitlin Clark in Thrilling Matchup, Clark Passes Up Final Shot

On Sunday, the ongoing rivalry between Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark saw another thrilling chapter, with Reese leading the Chicago Sky to a dramatic 88-87 comeback victory over Clark and the Indiana Fever.

While Caitlin Clark usually dominates the headlines, this game belonged to Angel Reese, who delivered an outstanding performance in the fourth quarter to erase a significant deficit and secure the win. Despite Clark’s solid play, she opted not to take the potential game-winning shot in the final moments, instead passing to Aliyah Boston, who missed.

Clark and the Fever had won their first two meetings this year, and Clark’s Iowa team had defeated Reese’s LSU in the Elite Eight last April. However, Sunday’s game was all about Reese, who snapped a three-game losing streak to Clark with a career-best performance.

Reese scored 25 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, shooting 8-11 from the field. She dominated the fourth quarter, scoring 10 points on 4-5 shooting as the Sky overcame a 12-point deficit.

This game marked Reese’s best WNBA performance to date, extending her record for consecutive double-doubles as a rookie to eight.

Clark also played well, setting a franchise record with 13 assists and scoring 17 points on 5-11 shooting, all from three-point range. However, her decision to pass up the final shot drew attention. With the Fever down by one in the closing seconds, Clark passed to Boston, who missed, resulting in the Fever’s loss.

Reese expressed her satisfaction with her performance after the game. The next matchup between Reese and Clark won’t occur until the end of August, but they could potentially team up in the WNBA All-Star Game next month.
