Report: Celtics Face Tough Frontcourt Decision to Make After Championship Win…

The Boston Celtics, fresh from their NBA championship parade, are now focusing on key decisions for the summer. Derrick White and Jayson Tatum are expected to sign multi-year extensions. Sam Hauser’s team option will likely be picked up, but Luke Kornet and Xavier Tillman Sr. face uncertain futures as they head into free agency, with Boston having bird rights for both.

With Kristaps Porzingis, Al Horford, and possibly Neemias Queta already in the mix, there might only be room for one more big man. Kornet has been a solid third-choice center, known for his rim protection and pick-and-roll defense. Tillman, acquired at the trade deadline, has shown versatility on defense and could be a long-term replacement for Horford.

While Stevens could re-sign both, there may not be enough playing time, especially with Tillman unlikely to accept a deep bench role. Kornet has proven himself worthy of a second-unit role. With other teams interested in them, Stevens faces a challenging decision, knowing that a member of the championship roster may need to depart in the offseason.
