Blumel, 24, played for the Texas Stars, Dallas’ AHL affiliate, last season, where he scored 31 goals and 31 assists, totaling 62 points in 72 games. He led the team in goals and was second in points. Over two AHL seasons, Blumel has accumulated 50 goals and 56 assists for 106 points in 130 games.

Drafted by the Edmonton Oilers in the fourth round of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft, he previously played three seasons with Pardubice HC in the Czech league, recording 33 goals and 28 assists for 61 points.

Pettersen, also 24, split the 2023-24 season between the AHL Stars and the Calgary Wranglers, scoring 11 goals and 27 assists for 38 points in 66 games. He has spent four seasons in the AHL, achieving career highs in 2022-23 with the Wranglers, scoring 19 goals and 25 assists for 44 points in 61 games. In his AHL career, Pettersen has 49 goals and 73 assists for 122 points in 215 games with the Stars, Wranglers, and Stockton Heat.

Last season, the NHL Stars finished with a 52-21-9 record, topping the Central Division. They defeated the Vegas Golden Knights and Colorado Avalanche in the first two rounds of the Stanley Cup Playoffs but were eliminated by the Edmonton Oilers in six games.
