Breaking: Dallas Stars Sign Two Shining Stars on One-Year Deals…

The Dallas Stars have signed Matej Blumel and Emilio Pettersen to one-year, two-way contracts.

Matej Blumel, 24, had an impressive season with the Texas Stars, the AHL affiliate of Dallas, scoring 31 goals and 31 assists for 62 points in 72 games. He led the team in goals and was second in points. Over his two AHL seasons, he has accumulated 50 goals and 56 assists, totaling 106 points in 130 games. Blumel was initially drafted by the Edmonton Oilers in the fourth round of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. Prior to joining the AHL, he played for three seasons with Pardubice HC in the Czech league, where he scored 33 goals and 28 assists, accumulating 61 points.

Emilio Pettersen, also 24, split his 2023-24 season between the AHL Stars and the Calgary Wranglers. He scored 11 goals and 27 assists, totaling 38 points in 66 games. Pettersen has spent four seasons in the AHL, achieving career highs in the 2022-23 season with the Wranglers by scoring 19 goals and 25 assists, amounting to 44 points in 61 games. Over his AHL career, Pettersen has recorded 49 goals and 73 assists for 122 points in 215 games, playing for the Stars, Wranglers, and the Stockton Heat.

The NHL Dallas Stars had a strong season, finishing with a 52-21-9 record, placing them first in the Central Division. They advanced to the playoffs, defeating the Vegas Golden Knights and Colorado Avalanche in the first and second rounds, respectively. However, their playoff run ended in the conference finals, where they were eliminated by the Edmonton Oilers in six games.
