ESPN Mock Draft Connects Jurrangelo Cijntje to the Braves
Switch-pitcher Jurrangelo Cijntje is once again linked to the Atlanta Braves in ESPN’s latest mock draft by Kiley McDaniel. The projection places Cijntje, a Mississippi State standout, at the 24th pick for Atlanta.
McDaniel recently ranked Cijntje as the 36th-best prospect in this draft, noting that his stock has risen significantly, making the 24th pick seem like the lowest he could go. This aligns with other mock drafts, which also predict Cijntje being selected around or before the Braves’ turn.
McDaniel’s mock draft generally mirrors others, where the Braves are associated with several players, contingent on who falls to the 24th spot.
This approach is consistent with Atlanta’s previous drafts, such as picking Hurston Waldrep last season. The Braves often target preferred players, hoping they drop to them, and if not, they choose lower-ranked prospects to distribute their budget across later picks, like in 2022 with Owen Murphy.
Some names linked to the Braves—Seaver King, Braylon Doughty, Griff O’Farrell, Ryan Waldschmidt, and Carson Benge—might be speculative as evaluators try to predict the Braves’ preferences. While these players are fitting prospects, accurately predicting Atlanta’s draft choices is challenging due to the team’s secretive approach to their actual targets.
