Breaking News: Dallas Stars Finally Bids Farewell Another Senational 23 Year-old Forward…

San Jose Sharks Acquire Ty Dellandrea from Dallas Stars…

The San Jose Sharks have traded a 2025 fourth-round pick (originally owned by Winnipeg) to the Dallas Stars for forward Ty Dellandrea, as announced by the team today.

Dellandrea, 23, was the 13th overall pick in the 2018 NHL Draft by the Dallas Stars. The six-foot-two, 190-pound forward played in 42 games for the Stars last season, scoring two goals and providing seven assists for a total of nine points. Additionally, Dellandrea ranked sixth among Stars forwards in hits with 63 and was fifth in shorthanded ice time, logging 78 minutes.

Throughout his career, Dellandrea has also played in the American Hockey League. In 87 games with the Texas Stars, he accumulated 27 goals and 32 assists, totaling 59 points.

This trade signifies the start of a busy offseason for Sharks General Manager Mike Grier. Grier’s strategy likely involves protecting anticipated first overall pick Macklin Celebrini and recently signed 2023 first-rounder Will Smith by surrounding them with tough players known for their leadership to guide the younger players in the locker room.

While Dellandrea is still relatively young to be considered a veteran leader for the Sharks, he has leadership experience from serving as Captain of the Flint Firebirds in the Ontario Hockey League for two years. Dellandrea was honored with the OHL Commitment Award in 2019-2020, which is given to the team captain who best exemplifies leadership on and off the ice, demonstrating a strong passion and dedication to hockey and his community.
