Breaking: Milwaukee Bucks Makes a Smart Trade Move on Sensational Rising Star in Offseason Deal…

Why Former New York Knicks Rising Star Quentin Grimes Could Be a Sleeper Trade Target for the Milwaukee Bucks…

A couple of years ago, Quentin Grimes garnered significant attention during his tenure with the New York Knicks. Although he has recently faded from the spotlight, the Milwaukee Bucks could capitalize on this opportunity by acquiring him during the offseason, potentially offering him a more favorable environment next season.

Grimes’ NBA journey has been tumultuous over the past year. Following a breakout sophomore season with the Knicks, he entered the current season with high expectations as a key starter.

However, he struggled to maintain his previous success, with his shooting percentages and scoring averages dropping significantly. Often appearing hesitant on the offensive end, Grimes passed up open shots and struggled to make a substantial impact.

Despite his defensive efforts, he eventually lost his starting spot to former Bucks player Donte DiVincenzo and was traded to the Detroit Pistons at the deadline. Unfortunately, his performance with the Pistons did not improve, as he shot below 22% from the field and just 14.3% from three-point range.

This downturn has sparked questions about Grimes’ long-term fit and development. As he approaches the offseason, Grimes needs to regain the form that once made him a promising prospect, whether in Detroit or elsewhere.

Why Quentin Grimes Could Be a Low-Key Trade Target for the Milwaukee Bucks

Given the Pistons’ chaotic rotation, they may consider trading some players, including Grimes. Dalton Sell, in an article for Behind The Buck Pass, highlighted why Grimes might be a beneficial addition to the Giannis Antetokounmpo-led Bucks.

Sell pointed out that Grimes’ inconsistent minutes during the 2023-24 season affected his performance, resulting in a shooting percentage of just 39.5% and a decline in his overall stats before being traded to Detroit for Bojan Bogdanovic and Alec Burks. Grimes played only six games for the Pistons before an injury sidelined him for the rest of the season, raising serious concerns about his future.

Despite his defensive struggles, Grimes has the potential to make significant offensive contributions. He could be an upgrade over Malik Beasley for the Bucks, and his trade value is currently at a low point. Grimes will be a restricted free agent in 2025, but the Bucks shouldn’t wait. They should seize the opportunity to acquire the talented guard and hope he can rebound in Milwaukee.

Throughout his career, Grimes has averaged 8.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game, with shooting percentages of 42% from the field, 37% from three-point range, and 77% from the free-throw line.

While it’s uncertain if the Pistons will make Grimes available, the Bucks could benefit significantly from pursuing him this offseason. Given the opportunity, Grimes might rediscover his form and thrive once again.
