Despite enduring numerous injuries this season, the Braves have managed to stay competitive. In a bit of good news on the injury front, Mark Bowman reports that Ian Anderson is set to pitch in a Florida Complex League game tomorrow.
Anderson hasn’t taken the mound for the Braves since August 2022 and hasn’t been in top form since the 2021 postseason when he played a crucial role in Atlanta’s first major sports championship since 1995. His struggles continued until it was announced he would undergo surgery late in the 2022 season.

Expectations for Anderson this season should be tempered. Any contribution from him would be a bonus. However, Tommy John surgery can sometimes rejuvenate a young pitcher. This could be a fresh start for the 26-year-old, who has already delivered some remarkable postseason performances for the Braves.
The Braves’ rotation has kept them in the playoff race, but they’ve been in desperate need of a reliable fifth starter. Prospects like Hurston Waldrep and Spencer Schwellenbach show promise but lack consistency, while Bryce Elder has struggled, and AJ Smith-Shawver is on the injured list.
