Report: Broncos’ 1,000 Yards Running Back Faces Uncertain Roster Future…

Report: Emerging Report Suggests Broncos’ Javonte Williams May Not Make the Team…

Broncos running back Javonte Williams, who returned from a torn ACL to achieve just over 1,000 yards from scrimmage last year, might not even make the 53-man roster this summer, according to early reports from Denver.

Cecil Lammey of DenverSports.com indicated on social media that Jaleel McLaughlin appears to be the leading running back for the Broncos, casting doubt on Williams’ future with the team.

This would be a significant setback for the organization, which spent a second-round pick on Williams in 2021, especially with a rookie quarterback in play. Interestingly, this isn’t the only concerning news from Broncos camp this week.

Jaleel McLaughlin Reportedly Surpassing Javonte Williams…

McLaughlin impressed in his limited rookie season, rushing for 410 yards and a touchdown, and adding 160 yards with two more scores through the air. In contrast, Williams averaged only 3.6 yards per carry and seemed noticeably slower and less explosive.

This is crucial for Denver, which needs a strong dual-threat back to boost its offense. Williams had a promising 2021 season with 903 rushing yards and 43 catches for 316 yards, but his severe injury seems to have hindered his progress.

It might be wise for the Broncos to keep Williams on the roster, as head coach Sean Payton noted that running backs typically take a couple of years to recover fully from such injuries. While Denver plans to be patient, McLaughlin is making the most of his opportunity.

With instability across nearly all positions for the Broncos, contrasting with the Chiefs’ stability, the report emphasizes the challenges Denver faces. Despite a win against Kansas City last year, the Chiefs remain dominant in crucial games.
