Breaking: Kentucky Wildcats’ Intensifies Chase as High-risk Prospect Finally Reveals Decision Date…

Five-Star Forward Will Riley Sets Decision Date…

Will Riley, a five-star forward from Malvern (Pa.) Phelps School, has scheduled his decision date. On June 23, Riley will announce his college choice, narrowing his options to Alabama, Arizona, Illinois, Kentucky, and the New Zealand Breakers (NBL), as revealed on his social media on Thursday.

Riley recently visited Illinois, Kentucky, and Alabama officially. Initially, Arkansas was in his top five, but he later replaced them with Illinois.

Standing at 6-8 and weighing 180 pounds, Riley is currently ranked No. 16 in the 2025 class according to the 247Sports Composite. He is also contemplating reclassifying to 2024. Originally from Kitchener, Ontario, Riley was named MVP at the Basketball Without Borders Global Camp in February during the NBA All-Star Weekend in Indianapolis.

At the Nike EYBL event in Indianapolis last month, Riley showcased his skills by averaging 25.8 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 2.8 assists, shooting 69.1% overall and making 9 of 15 three-pointers (60%) for UPLAY Canada. His standout performance included scoring 42 points on 15 of 16 shooting, with a perfect 5 of 5 from three-point range in a 100-60 victory over Team Durant.

Analyst Branham noted Riley’s impressive versatility and potential, highlighting his ability to operate as both a scorer and a playmaker. Branham expects Riley to rise further in the rankings.

Throughout 10 games this season, Riley has averaged 21.4 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 2.6 assists, leading UPLAY to a 6-4 record.

Despite the coaching change at Kentucky, Riley has kept the Wildcats in his top choices. New UK coach Mark Pope, along with assistants Alvin Brooks III, Jason Hart, and Cody Fueger, have been closely following Riley’s progress.

Riley has outlined his criteria for his next step, emphasizing the importance of being placed in familiar and suitable positions and working with a coach who recognizes his potential and can help him achieve his goals. He describes himself as “positionless” with strong passing skills, aiming to enhance his team’s performance beyond just scoring.

Kentucky has one remaining scholarship for 2024, which Coach Pope describes as a flexible option for various player needs.

“The 13th scholarship is a floating piece,” Pope recently explained. “It could be for a young player, a senior player taking a redshirt year, a project player, or a high-risk prospect.”
