Breaking: Correa’s Career-High Five Hits Lead Twins to 17-9 Victory Over Rockies…

Carlos Correa led the Minnesota Twins with a career-high five hits, and Carlos Santana delivered a bases-clearing double, helping secure a 17-9 win over the Colorado Rockies in Minneapolis on Wednesday. Royce Lewis and Willi Castro each hit home runs, contributing to the Twins’ season-high 24 hits. Jose Miranda and Christian Vazquez both hit two-run doubles, while Santana and Kyle Farmer each added RBI singles during a seven-run eighth inning. Farmer also had an RBI single in a five-run first inning. Every player in the Twins’ starting lineup recorded at least one hit and one RBI.

Pablo Lopez (6-6) capitalized on Minnesota’s early offensive burst, earning the win by improving to 4-0 in five starts against the Rockies. He gave up two runs on five hits and struck out five over five innings. Colorado’s Ryan McMahon hit a solo homer for the second day in a row, and Brenton Doyle and Jacob Stallings each contributed two hits and two RBIs. Despite a two-run error by shortstop Correa and a double-play grounder that cut Minnesota’s lead to 10-8 in the eighth inning, the Twins’ offense rallied late, handing the Rockies their ninth loss in 12 games.

In the first inning, Doyle scored on Ezequiel Tovar’s sacrifice fly before Minnesota’s offense took off. Byron Buxton’s RBI single tied the game, Santana’s bases-clearing double off Austin Gomber (1-4) put the Twins ahead, and Farmer’s RBI single extended the lead. McMahon and Castro both hit solo home runs to start the fourth inning for their respective teams. The Twins widened their lead to 8-2 with Manuel Margot’s RBI double and Correa’s RBI single, ending Gomber’s rough outing after allowing eight runs on 11 hits in just over three innings.

Tovar scored on a groundout in the sixth inning, but Lewis responded with a massive home run in the bottom half. He launched a first-pitch sinker from Angel Chivilli into the second deck in left-center field, marking his fifth home run of the season and second in three games.
