Why Simon Boisvert Call on Experts Need to Reevaluate Trevor Connelly’s Draft Potential…

‘They really need to change their glasses’: Simon Boisvert on Trevor Connelly’s draft ranking

Every year at the draft, some talented prospects unexpectedly drop on experts’ lists. These names are often passed over for several picks before finally being chosen, sometimes turning into steals for their respective teams.

Take Brad Lambert, for example. Initially seen as a top-10 prospect, he fell to the Winnipeg Jets at the 30th pick. Now, Lambert is excelling in the AHL with 55 points (21 goals and 34 assists) in 64 games and is likely to join the NHL next year at 20.

This year’s draft could see a similar story with Trevor Connelly, a talented but enigmatic player who has been excluded from the top-10 on nearly all expert lists, except for Simon Boisvert’s. Boisvert, also known as “Snake,” suggests that his peers need to get their vision checked for overlooking Connelly’s talent.

Boisvert is baffled by Connelly’s omission from the top-10, believing that experts are missing his potential. He regards Connelly as one of the most skilled players in the draft, highlighting his impressive execution speed, quickness, and excellent hands. Boisvert even compares Connelly to NHL legend Pavel Bure, who had multiple seasons with 60 goals and over 100 points.

While Boisvert acknowledges Connelly’s off-ice issues and strong character, which can lead to poor decisions, he argues that Connelly’s talent makes him worth the risk at the top of the draft. Despite his behavioral problems, Boisvert feels Connelly’s on-ice prowess justifies a higher ranking.

Connelly, who scored 78 points, including 51 goals, in 52 games for the USHL’s Tri-City Storm this season, might slip to the end of the first round. For more insights, listen to Simon Boisvert on Tony Marinaro’s Sick Podcast.
