Breaking: Proposed Trade Could Send Rising Bulls Guard to the Bucks for $21 Million…

The Milwaukee Bucks face challenges this offseason as a second-tax apron team with limited assets and restrictions. They can only add a few quality players, but one potential target is Ayo Dosunmu from the Chicago Bulls.

Since being drafted in 2021, Dosunmu has steadily improved, increasing his scoring average from 8.8 to 12.2 points per game over three NBA seasons. His expanded role hints at further potential. Dan Favale from Bleacher Report suggested a trade to bring Dosunmu to Milwaukee:

Trade Proposal:
– Bucks Receive: Ayo Dosunmu
– Bulls Receive: Pat Connaughton, No. 23 pick

Favale highlights Dosunmu’s appeal to Milwaukee, noting his defensive prowess and remaining two-year, $14.5 million contract. At 6’5″ with a wingspan over 6’10”, Dosunmu offers versatility by defending both guard spots and some wings. However, Favale acknowledges the challenge in securing this trade, as Chicago might seek more than a late first-round pick and Pat Connaughton, who is owed $18.8 million over the next two years.

Dosunmu’s Rising Value:

Morgan Stig Jensen from Forbes elaborates on Dosunmu’s progress, particularly in his third season where he averaged 16.3 points per game on impressive shooting percentages. This 38-game performance indicates potential for continued improvement. The Bulls must decide whether to extend Dosunmu or trade him before he reaches unrestricted free agency in 2026.

Impact of a Healthy Bulls Roster:

The Athletic’s Darnell Mayberry reports that the Bulls expect Lonzo Ball to return for the 2024-25 season after a long injury absence. With Ball and a healthy Zach LaVine, along with rising star Coby White, Dosunmu’s role might diminish, making a trade more likely.

The Bucks, in need of two-way players, should seize the opportunity to acquire Dosunmu if he becomes available.
