Walman scored a career-high 12 goals and 21 points last season, with minimal power-play contributions. Increased offensive opportunities could further enhance his output.
Despite his defensive inconsistencies, Walman is a more well-rounded defender than Gostisbehere. The Red Wings have yet to fully harness his potential.

Walman finished the season with 151 blocked shots, ranking third on the team, but recorded only 42 hits, the second lowest among regular defensemen. This contrasts with teammates like Moritz Seider, who led with 211 hits.
