CBS Sports’ Sam Quinn has compiled a list of 75 players across 12 categories who might be traded this summer, indicating a potential flurry of activity across the league. Among these players, Bobby Portis of the Milwaukee Bucks is categorized as one of the “Reasonably Priced Role Players” who could be moved to another NBA team.
Despite Portis’s value to the Bucks, especially evident in his strong playoff performance against the Pacers, the team may find themselves compelled to explore trade options.
This decision stems from their limited draft assets and young player resources, coupled with the pressing need to enhance their perimeter defense. Portis represents one of the Bucks’ most valuable assets available for trade without disrupting their core lineup.
Portis, who was a finalist for the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year award this season, is admired by the Bucks’ fanbase. At 29 years old, he still holds considerable trade value, and Horst could potentially secure a favorable return for him.
Portis demonstrated his reliability by appearing in all 82 games last season, averaging 13.8 points, 7.4 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 0.4 blocks, and 0.8 steals per game. His shooting percentages, both from the field and beyond the arc, further highlight his offensive prowess.
While trading Portis could be a strategic move for the Bucks, it would leave a void in their bench scoring. Considering Milwaukee’s lack of depth, it might be more prudent for them to explore trading Khris Middleton instead, although such a move would also pose challenges.
