Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors is widely recognized as the best shooter in NBA history. However, his rank among the all-time greatest players remains a topic of debate. Former NBA star Tracy McGrady has expressed his opinion, excluding Curry from his top 10 list.
In a recent social media post, McGrady reacted to a site that listed Curry among the top 5 players of all time. McGrady strongly disagreed, stating that Curry hasn’t even made it into his top 10.

McGrady’s reasoning is that Curry has not achieved enough on his own to warrant a top 10 spot. He noted that without Draymond Green and Klay Thompson, Curry failed to lead the Warriors to the playoffs, arguing that this diminishes Curry’s solo impact and excludes him from top 5 consideration.
Despite this, McGrady did acknowledge Curry as the best shooter ever in the caption of his video. Nonetheless, his comments sparked backlash from fans who were disappointed with his rationale.
This isn’t the first time McGrady has expressed doubts about Curry’s top 10 status. In a previous Instagram Q&A session, he argued that championships alone don’t define greatness, attributing Curry’s success in part to luck and the presence of teammates like Thompson and Kevin Durant. McGrady suggested that if Curry had played for a struggling franchise like the Charlotte Hornets, he wouldn’t be in the top 10 conversation.
