Report: Pat McAfee Slams Race-Based Criticism on Fever’s Rookie Star and Calls Caitlin Clark a Weird Name…

Pat McAfee Defends Caitlin Clark, Dismisses Race as Factor in Her Popularity

In his latest show, Pat McAfee passionately defended Caitlin Clark, who was picked No. 1 overall in the 2024 WNBA Draft by the Indiana Fever. Despite a rough start for the team (2-9), Clark’s star power remains undiminished. However, controversy has arisen, particularly after a clash with Chicago Sky’s Chennedy Carter during a narrow victory on Saturday.

Clark’s transition to the WNBA has been widely discussed, but McAfee’s show took a bold stance on Monday. McAfee and his team criticized those who attribute Clark’s superstar status solely to her being a White female in the league.

McAfee said, “Call it what it is – there’s one White b—- for the Indiana team who is a superstar,” defending Clark’s merit based on her achievements, including breaking NCAA scoring records. He challenged the notion that her popularity is race-based, emphasizing her remarkable basketball skills and dedication.

During the show, McAfee also addressed Carter’s physical play against Clark, which led to a flagrant-1 foul. Carter accused Clark of flopping and criticized her game beyond three-point shooting. Clark, however, responded with poise, insisting she wants to be treated like any other player.

Fever GM Lin Dunn also weighed in, condemning Carter’s actions as “unnecessary targeting” and calling for the league to address such behavior.

Despite a tough game against the New York Liberty, Clark remains a standout, being only the second WNBA player to achieve at least 100 points, 50 rebounds, and 50 assists in their first 10 games.
