Patriots Insider Shares Observations on Drake Maye’s Progress in OTAs…

Since Tom Brady’s departure, the New England Patriots have been in a rebuilding phase. Although they made the playoffs in 2021, their performance has declined over the past two seasons.

Initially, there was hope that Mac Jones, their draft pick, could significantly impact the team. However, it soon became evident that he wasn’t their long-term solution. This year, the Patriots drafted Drake Maye with the No. 3 overall pick, hoping he could address many of their challenges and restore consistent success.

Though there was considerable optimism when Maye was drafted, he initially struggled in the early days of OTAs. Adjusting to the NFL is a demanding process, but he appears to be finding his rhythm.

Tom E. Curran of NBC Sports Boston recently commented on Maye’s development, noting, “He looked to me as if he had taken a step forward from last week.” This progress is encouraging news for Patriots fans.

While Maye has a significant journey ahead in the coming months, his improvement is a positive indicator. It’s worrisome when a player struggles extensively during OTAs, but that doesn’t seem to be the case for Maye.

Looking ahead to 2024, Maye and the Patriots face a challenging path to the playoffs, but they seem prepared to tackle it.
