He took over defensive play calling, leading to a 6-6 finish for the season, which could have been 8-4 if not for late-game collapses against Detroit and Cleveland.
Herbstreit was not surprised that the Bears retained Eberflus for another year, believing the team’s positive direction is due to his steady coaching.
