During the majority of the 2023 NFL regular season and leading into the playoffs, the Baltimore Ravens were widely regarded as the top team in the league, with their star quarterback Lamar Jackson performing at an MVP level. Their offense, led by Jackson, was formidable, and their defense was also strong. However, their dominance came to an abrupt halt when they faced off against the reigning Super Bowl champions, the Kansas City Chiefs, in the playoffs.
Despite Baltimore being seen as a team built to defeat Kansas City in the postseason, particularly given the Chiefs’ underwhelming regular-season performance, they faltered when it mattered most in the AFC Championship Game.
Although the Ravens missed out on reaching the Super Bowl, they will have a chance for redemption in the opening game of the 2024 season against the Chiefs. Jackson downplays the significance of the matchup, stating that their ultimate goal is reaching the Super Bowl regardless of the opponent.
Nevertheless, this season opener holds significance as it will gauge the Ravens’ readiness to challenge the defending champions in 2024. Despite losing Odell Beckham Jr. in free agency, the Ravens strengthened their offense by signing veteran running back Derrick Henry, adding even more firepower to their arsenal.
