JUST IN: Cleveland Cavaliers Star Becomes a Potential Trade Target Amid Donovan Mitchell Uncertainty…

The Cleveland Cavaliers’ championship aspirations for the 2023-24 NBA season were dashed after a crushing defeat by the Boston Celtics in the second round of the playoffs.

With the Cavaliers now in the offseason, attention is focused on the future of star shooting guard Donovan Mitchell, who has one guaranteed year left on his contract. Without an extension, Mitchell could be a trade asset for Cleveland.

Don’t Overlook the Trade Potential of Cleveland Cavaliers Center Jarrett Allen

Another significant player on the Cavaliers, center Jarrett Allen, is also drawing trade interest this summer. NBA insider Marc Stein suggests Cleveland might consider trading Allen, especially if they extend Mitchell’s contract and prioritize a potential maximum contract extension for Evan Mobley.

“Cleveland’s Jarrett Allen could become a highly sought-after trade target if the Cavaliers extend Donovan Mitchell’s contract and aim to sign Evan Mobley to a maximum contract extension this summer,” Stein stated (via Jesse Cinquini of Cavaliers Nation).

“Despite frustration in Cleveland over Allen’s reluctance to take a pain-killing injection for a rib injury that sidelined him in the last eight playoff games, he remains highly admired by rival front offices.”

Allen, who signed a five-year, $100 million deal with the Cavaliers in 2021 after being traded from the Brooklyn Nets, will not be a free agent until the end of the 2025-26 season. He missed the entire series against the Celtics due to a rib injury but averaged 16.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, 1.3 blocks, and 2.7 assists per game during the 2023-24 regular season.
